Charlie Vogt, President, CEO and Director

Charlie Vogt joined DZS as President and CEO in August 2020, bringing two decades of experience as a CEO and over 30 years of professional experience in executing visionary strategies that resulted in unprecedented growth in communications markets. He became a Director of DZS on August 1, 2020.

Prior to DZS, Mr. Vogt was president and CEO of four companies: ATX Networks, a global leader of optical access networking and media distribution solutions, Imagine Communications, a world-leading provider of video software and unified distribution solutions, GENBAND (now Ribbon Communications), a global leader in IP networking and software solutions, and Taqua, a market leader in softswitch technology. Earlier in his career, Mr. Vogt was instrumental in the operational and financial growth of several of standard-setting technology companies which included ADTRAN and Ascend Communications that either became public companies or were acquired.

Mr. Vogt holds a B.S. in Economics and Computer Science from Saint Louis University.

Matt Bross, Strategy Committee Chair

Matt Bross has led a long and distinguished career in the telecommunications industry. He currently serves on the boards of Axellio Inc. and Rift.io, leading edge companies in edge computing, cyber security and virtualization, and is the Chairman of the Global Information Infrastructure Commission (GIIC). Mr. Bross has also served on the boards of Sonus Networks, the East West Institute, the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and CTIA, the trade association representing the U.S wireless communications industry. He has been a Director of DZS since January 4, 2021. During his career, Mr. Bross served as the Global CTO and President of Huawei Technologies, CTO of British Telecom (BT) Group and the CEO of BT Innovate.

Mr. Bross was awarded a William Pitt Fellowship by Pembroke College at the University of Cambridge.

Joon Kim, RETIRED KPMG AUDIT PARTNER & GLOBAL STRATEGIC CONSULTANT

Joon Kim brings to the DZS board more than 36 years of experience in audit and advisory services from KPMG. He has been a Director of DZS since January 6, 2020. Prior to joining DZS, Kim served as the National Partner in Charge of KPMG’s Korean practice, a role to which he was appointed in 2005. During his career at KPMG, he progressed through various financial statement audit roles, developing expertise in financial statement audits, operational reviews and special audits of specified areas of operations, regulatory supervisory advice, credit reviews, performance improvement, and internal control related advisory services, and in 1999 was promoted to Partner.

Mr. Kim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Barbara Carbone, Compensation Committee Chair

For almost 40 years, Barbara Carbone served as a partner and innovative business transformation leader at KPMG while working in a variety of accounting- and auditing-related roles. Today, Ms. Carbone is the Board Chair and Audit Committee Chair, as well as a member of the Compensation and Workforce Committee for TrueCar, Inc. Additionally, Ms. Carbone is the Audit Committee chair for Limoneira Company and for Bob’s Discount Furniture. Ms. Carboen has been a DZS board member since January 4, 2021. She brings valuable experience to the board from transforming businesses through mergers and acquisitions, workforce management, divestitures, spinoffs, IPOs, and navigation of public and private markets.

Ms. Carbone holds a Bachelor of Science in Business, Accounting from California State University – Sacramento.

David Schopp, Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee Chair

David R. Schopp joined Private Equity firm Stonebridge Partners as an Operating Partner in 2004 and is also a General Partner in Fund IV. Mr. Schopp became a Director of DZS on August 13, 2018 and currently serves as Chairman of the Compensation Committee. He currently is Chairman of three portfolio companies; Cast-Crete, Hydraulex Global and Specialty Bakers, and previously was Chairman of American Dryer and Alpine Engineered Products. Mr. Schopp was previously President and CEO of Orbis Corporation, a $250 million manufacturer of plastic reusable packaging and a leader in supply chain solutions for the automotive and beverage industry. Prior to joining Orbis, he was Vice President and General Manager of Promo Edge, a leading supplier of promotional printed labels and displays. Mr. Schopp has 25 years of turnaround experience, building and then selling several of his own portfolio companies. He was previously a consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton specializing in strategy and marketing for Fortune 500 companies.

Mr. Schopp holds both an M.S. and B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Choon Yul Yoo, COO OF DASAN NETWORKS INC.

Mr. Choonyul Yoo serves as CEO of DMC, a leading auto part manufacturing in Korea since 2012 and COO of DASAN Networks Inc. since 1999. He has been a Director of DZS since August 8, 2019. Mr. Yoo served multiple CEO roles for DASAN Networks Inc. manufacturing subsidiaries and DASAN Networks Solution after spin-off from DASAN Networks Inc. Prior to DASAN Networks Inc., Mr. Yoo commenced his career with Daewoo Motors, where he held various management positions on engineering areas.

Mr. Yoo holds a Bachelor’s degree from Dongyang Tech University.
